Overview
Office Timeline allows you to easily reschedule whole groups of tasks and milestones whenever your project’s plans change. You can either choose to shift the dates by a number of days or weeks, or to a specific date of your choice – this guide will explain both ways.
A) Shift dates by a number of days or weeks
-
Either from the Data view or the Timeline view, select at least 2 tasks and/or milestones that you want to reschedule.
a) If you're in the the Data view, use the checkmarks on the left of your table to select the desired items, and then click Shift dates in the menu you’ll see popping up above the table.
Pro tip: You can also shift an entire project very easily from the Data view. Simply use the checkmark in your table header to select all rows at once and then shift all the dates as you please.b) If you're in the Timeline view, use Shift (Cmd) + Click to select the desired items, and then click Shift dates in the menu that will show up above your timeline.
-
In the dialogue that pops up, set the number of calendar days (or weeks) you want to shift dates by, as well as the direction of the change (earlier or later), and then click Apply.
-
Office Timeline Online will instantly reschedule all items as requested while keeping their original durations. For instance, in our example, they were all set to start (and end) 45 days later than originally planned:
B) Shift dates to a specified date
-
From the Data View, select at least 2 items you want to reschedule, and then click Shift dates in the menu you’ll see popping up above the table.
-
In the dialogue that pops up, select “to” from the Shift dates dropdown.
-
Then, set your desired date and click then click Apply.
-
Office Timeline Online will move the earliest item the specified date and the rest of the group proportionally, preserving the relative time intervals between items.
