How to show multiple tasks on one row

Overview

Office Timeline Online allows you to group multiple tasks on a single row, so you can easily break down major activities into phases or simply make more room on the slide.

A) Group multiple tasks onto a single line
B) Easily move or reorder whole task groups

A) Grouping multiple tasks in a row

  1. From the Timeline View, select the task you want to move and drag it vertically towards the one you want to align it with. Drop the task when you see a pink, dotted guiding band, which indicates it will be successfully aligned on that row.drag-task-vertically-pink-band

  2. That was it! Do the same for all other tasks you want to group on one row, or drag them out of the group if you want to move them back on their own separate line.

Note: Items grouped on one row in the Timeline View are not treated as a group in the Data View too. Always use the Timeline View to ungroup tasks.

  • Pro tip: On timelines with Swimlanes, you can even group multiple milestones on the same row inside a lane or align them with tasks.milestones-in-a-row-swimlanes

B) Move or reorder whole entire groups

One of our favorite tricks is that you can instantly reorder whole task groups from the Timeline View. To do so, grab the corresponding handle you’ll see on the right side of your slide, and then just drag it vertically to a new position.drag-entire-task-groups

The same goes for milestone (or mixed) groups on a Swimlane diagram – just use the handle to quickly move a whole row higher or lower on the timeline.
