Make a copy of the Google Sheets template

  2. When prompted, click Make a copy.

  3. The sheet is saved to your Google Drive. You can rename, edit, and share it as needed.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • You must be signed in to a Google account to make a copy.

  • If you see an error, double-check your login or try the link in a private or incognito browser window.

C) Import from Google Sheets

  1. Click Import and select Google Sheets.

  2. Click Use to start the import.

  3. Select your sheet and click Submit.

If your sheet is formatted correctly, Office Timeline will automatically map your columns and create your timeline.

Timelines work best with fewer than 50 rows. If you try to import more, you’ll see a warning. You can continue or go back and edit your sheet.

D) Manually Mapping Columns

Sometimes, you may need to map columns manually. You’ll be prompted to identify:

  • Sheet
  • Header for Task/milestone titles
  • Header for start dates
  • Header for end dates
  • Header for swimlanes (optional)

After mapping, click Import Sheet to continue.

E) Google Sheets Data

Your imported tasks and milestones are linked to the data in your Google sheet. You can see this indicated by the Sheets symbol next to each object in the Data tab. Any objects added after importing will not have this symbol and will not be updated when syncing data.
