What happens when you link your Office Timeline account with Microsoft?

Overview

When you authenticate to Office Timeline using your Microsoft account (via “Continue with Microsoft”), your two accounts become linked. This means that, going forward, you can use your Microsoft credentials to seamlessly log in to Office Timeline and manage your account. Here we’ll explain how account linking works and answer common questions you may have.

Understanding account linking

  1. Linking your Office Timeline account with Microsoft simply means you can use your Microsoft credentials to log in to our platform; we don’t receive or store your Microsoft password, and we don’t have access to your Microsoft products.
  2. If you’ve originally signed up to Office Timeline with a local account (using a standalone Office Timeline password), linking that account with Microsoft will not replace your old login credentials. You can choose to sign in either with your local Office Timeline password or with your Microsoft account.
  3. If you have a local Office Timeline account (with a standalone password) and want to link it with Microsoft, select “Continue with Microsoft” when logging in, and then make sure to pick the Microsoft account that has the same email address as the one you use for Office Timeline.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I unlink my account from Microsoft?

You can unlink your account from Microsoft by changing your email address from your Account Settings. When you change the email associated with your Office Timeline account, the link with Microsoft is broken, as it relies on the original address you used. Learn more about what changing your email involves.

Note: If you want to unlink because you’re leaving your company, make sure you make the change while you still have access your Microsoft inbox though, as we need to send you a confirmation code there for security reasons before updating your account.

Can I relink Office Timeline to a different Microsoft account?

Yes. To do so, go to Account Settings and change your email address to the one that’s associated with the Microsoft account you want to link. Then, on your next login, choose “Continue with Microsoft” to relink your Office Timeline account with Microsoft.

Can I link Office Timeline to a personal Microsoft account?

No, only with work or school accounts. You can, however, create a local Office Timeline account using your personal Microsoft email address.

What if I forget my Microsoft password?

If you’ve originally signed up to Office Timeline with a local account (using a standalone Office Timeline password), you can log in locally instead of through Microsoft. If you don’t have a local Office Timeline password, you’ll need to reset your Microsoft password through Microsoft’s recovery process.
